Here are some common questions regarding new garage door openers and repairs to garage door openers.  If all of your questions are not answered here, feel free to call us, at 905-830-0877 or visit our Contact Us page.

Can I purchase a garage door opener to install myself?
Yes you can install a door opener yourself. Our units are pre-assembled and easy to install. The rail is a one continuous solid T-rail which requires only 2 bolts to mount it to the motor.
Which model is better, the chain drive or the belt drive?
Each garage door opener has its advantages. The chain drive and belt drive are good in all applications. The belt drive is the quietest garage door opener and would be recommended for garages that have a room above them. The chain drive is the garage door opener that has been around the longest and offers dependable performance year after year. All of our garage door openers are very reliable and require virtually no maintenance.
What horsepower garage door opener do I need to lift my door?
Before installing a garage door opener, you should ensure that the door operates easily by hand. The rule of thumb is that if a ten year old child can lift the door with little or no effort, the door is well balanced. If the door is hard to lift, you should have a professional check the springs and other hardware on the door before installing an opener. Generally speaking, if you have a two car garage door, you can use either a 1/2 horsepower opener or for heavy wood doors, we now offer powerful 3/4 horsepower garage door openers. Remember that the easier it is to open the door manually, the easier it will be for the garage door opener to open the door and that means the longer your garage door opener will last.
Will a garage door opener open my eight, nine or ten foot door?
The standard garage door opener will open a 7' door. A one piece rail assembly is also available in 8', and 10', so your tall door will open completely. There is an additional charge for the longer rail.
When I try to open my garage door with my garage door opener the motor seems to be running but nothing is moving. Can you tell me what the problem is?
First make sure the chain is not moving. If it is you have to re-connect the traveller to the rail. If not, the gear inside the motor housing has worn down over time and not making contact with the drive gear. It can be repaired but depending on the age of the unit, it may make more sense to replace the door opener.
